It does what?!?

“It does what?!?!”  I just love how fun our customers are!! Many times people think shows are only about selling product, but not for The Marketplace. It’s about building relationships, sometimes a sale is involved and sometimes we just tell people something God wants us to say. Saturday afternoon it was starting to slow down at the Southern Women's Show Charlotte so I had a chance to walk and meet some vendors. I was drawn to one booth and started talking to the owner. “I am not sure if I am supposed to be doing this anymore." How long have you been doing this? “Retail 25 years, but shows full time for the past 3 years. How do you know when it’s time to quit?” Does it bring you joy? “What?” Does it bring you joy? If it not longer brings you joy and you don’t look forward to getting up and doing it, then maybe it’s time for a change. She looked at me and said, “you are the confirmation I needed today.” I smiled and walked on. 

I walked to another booth of a woman I met the previous day in our booth. She said, “You blessed me yesterday.” How so? “You told me that you did this for 3 years before you launched The Marketplace. It gives me hope.” Oh my, if you would have seen what a hot mess we were when we started, I am not sure how impressed you would have been. It’s baby steps and you learn as you go. “Can I email you some time just to pick your brain?” Absolutely!

We made a lot of new friends, sold a bunch of product, and at times just listened and encouraged. Yep- we are putting The Southern Women Show down in the books as a huge success!
