One Woman Campaign Update

One Woman Campaign Update

Yam was conceived in the red light district in Bangkok Thailand. Her mother couldn’t take care of her and she went to live with her birth father and grandmother. At 8 years old, her father died and her grandmother was left to raise her. Unable to take care of Yam, her grandmother sent her to live with her Aunt. Her Aunt worked her late into the night. At one point, she tried to get her to go to South Korea for work, most likely she was going to be trafficked. Eventually Yam found her mother in Bangkok. Her mother no longer worked in the red light district, she now worked for Samaritan Creations. She asked Yam to come stay with her and work at there. Today Yam age 20 and her son Hin age 3 lives and works at Samaritan Creations.
We wanted to give you an update on our “Round it Up” campaign. Our goal is to raise $4,440 to employ one woman out of trafficking. This covers her salary for a year and sponsors her child to go to school and receive medial/dental benefit. In 2 months, we have already received $900 in donations. Thank you for your generosity. How can you help women like Yam have a secure future? When you purchase at our Oak Street location or on The Rolling Shack you can round up your total to the nearest dollar or add an extra $5 to the total. If you shop us online, you can click on the One Woman Campaign button located in our product section and type in a figure to donate. You can write a check made out to The Marketplace and send it to our Oak Street location to receive a tax deductible contribution. You can purchase items made by Samaritan Creations. And finally, you can pray. Pray that when Samaritan Creations goes into the red light district to meet the women who so desperately need Jesus that they are able to start building relationships. While I have said our goal is to employ one woman out of trafficking this year, I know we serve an awesome God. If we make ourselves fully available to Him, I think He may show off!
