Remember Your "Why"
The answer is really simple. It’s all about the people, our artisans and our customers. It’s about opening the market up for our artisans so they are able to provide for their families and giving our customers an amazing handmade product that they are going to love.
But honestly, it’s so much more than that. I love being the connector between the artisan and the customer. When I travel abroad and sit with our artisans, one of my favorite things to do is to whip out my iPhone. They all gather around while I show them pictures of customers truly enjoying their products. They can’t believe you love what they made so much. I watch their faces as they smile and ask me to “go back to the 1st picture.” Something beautiful happens. They take pride in their work because it brought someone so much joy!
I can’t begin to tell you how many times when I am at a show or on the truck telling people about a product, that I whip out my phone and show them a picture of the artisan. They instantly stop what they are doing, stare at it, and then they call their friends over and say, “Look who made this bag I am about to buy!” Many times it ends with, “Will you text me that picture?”
You often hear me say, “Thank you for being a part of our community.” That community consists of our artisans and our customers. It’s my “why.” Heading into 2021, I have dubbed this year the Year of Connection. My goal is to bring both sides closer together. Why? A beautiful thing happens when we connect. We appreciate, learn, and grow together. Thank you for being my “why.”
