This is Where We Started

This is Where We Started

September 2010, I started working with Jacaranda Creations, a group of ladies in Nairobi Kenya. I offered to help them in business and I remember the 1st question I asked them, “What is it you need the most?” We need a market to sell our products. A few days later I was thumbing through a local newspaper- Vendors needed for Christmas in Davidson. I had lived in Davidson for many years and had been to this event multiple times. Could I be a vendor for this group? Never mind that I had never done anything like this. “Lou, let’s do Christmas in Davidson for Jacaranda!” Marisa, we don’t know what we are doing. “I know, but let’s do it anyways. They need us to sell products. They need a market and this is a market!” The Marketplace concept was birthed December 2010 in freezing temperatures at Christmas in Davidson. 2 1/2 years later, The Marketplace officially opened it’s doors in Grace Covenant Church. This truly is a special show for us. Our customers loved us and looked for us each year even though we were hot messes.  It was on that cold night that I realized this is who God designed me to be, a storyteller. Tomorrow night is the launch of Christmas in Davidson and we will have people in the truck who have shopped us from the beginning. You see this show is our homecoming and we are humbled by the support of this community. I say this all the time, it’s not Christmas until it’s Christmas in Davidson.
