You can’t pour out of an empty cup

You can’t pour out of an empty cup

My schedule was so crazy, something had to give. 1st it was my workouts. Then it was my quiet time with the Lord. I started losing weight because “I didn’t have time to eat.” Sleep? How much did I really need.  I knew I was in trouble when I had zero joy. I lost balance and was heading to burnout. This was me in 2018. I made a joke and called my elusive unicorn Balance. It wasn’t a joke. People, my hair started falling out!

One morning as I was moving from one task to another, I heard “I never asked you to live this way.” I stopped what I was doing and just sat down. But I do it for you Lord. “I never asked that of you.” That moment began a life change for me. Slowly I started looking at my calendar and began removing things. With each thing I removed, it felt like a weight was being lifted. It was a slow process.

For me spending quiet time with Jesus, working out, eating right, and getting enough sleep are non-negotiables in my life. When I start losing any of those, I begin losing my balance. I lose my joy then honestly I am no good to anyone. Whatever it is that fills your tank, make time for it. Make it a priority. I know as mamas we give to so many and a lot of times we don’t have anything left. Take a moment today to write down your non-negotiables and work them into your schedule. You can’t pour out of an empty cup.
