Dou Dou Board with Knife by Atelier Calla from Haiti

$24.00

What does dou dou mean? It's Creole for little darling and honestly, this little cutting board is so cute! I love it's sleek lines. Whether you use this mahogany cutting board as a quick grab to chop up your herbs or as a beautiful charcuterie board to put some cheese and olives on, you will love it! My guess is that you will want to keep it out all the time so you will think of many new ways to display it! It would also make a beautiful gift.

Care instructions: handwash with warm water and mild dishwashing soap. Please do not put in the dishwasher or soak in water. I find if I am not using it often or if it begins to look dull, just put a bit of olive oil on a paper towel and rub it into the wood. It loves oil, will soak it up, and look beautiful again!

Dimensions: Board 10.5 x 8 inches, knife 6.25 x 1 inches

Atelier Calla opened their workshop in Haiti in 2011 as a way to show people the love of Christ. Christelle, a banker of 12 years, was determined to give her artisans dignified employment; a safe environment to work in, a steady paycheck, and a meal. They started with 4 artisans and now have grown to 6 full time employees. I love how Christelle has imparted ownership to her artisans, they work together as a team to ensure all orders are fulfilled on time and with utmost quality. But what I love the most is how she is investing in the person and not just the work they can perform. Is it more work? Absolutely, but the results are lasting.

Empowering people. Changing lives.
