Mud Cloth Shoulder Bag by Bagamoyo from Kenya

Sold out

The fabric is mud cloth. I fell in love with it when I was in Senegal and Ghana. This traditional way of dyeing cotton where leaves, branches, and mud are involved  and placed in the sun to bleach is absolutely gorgeous. This bag uses this beautiful cloth as the star. Be prepared when you carry it to be stopped and asked, "Where did you get that bag?"

Dimensions: 17.75 x 14 inches, Strap 12 inches

Bagamoyo is a Swahili word which means to, “Lay down your heart”. The sewing project named Bagamoyo is an extension of Springs of Hope Kenya (SOHK) and serves as a sewing training center for women and men living with HIV/AIDS. They also assist SOHK in providing care for the orphaned and families who are suffering from the devastating effects of HIV/AIDS. Bagamoyo bags are created from traditional Kenyan materials; beautiful, colorful textiles which bring a touch of fun, whimsy, and Kenya wherever you take them. When you purchase one of these bags, you are making a statement of hope and love to Women, Men, and families living with HIV/AIDS.

Empowering people. Changing lives.
