The heart of The Marketplace has always been to empower people and change lives. We created these bookmarks for our Virtual Book Club and once I showed them to others, they wanted 1! We are now making them available! 

I designed this bookmark with Rachel the Director of Teze Handcrafts in the Republic of Georgia. It is handmade by Arzu out of recycled book pages that were destined to be kindling for a fire. She then cut our cross and tin roof logo out of fabric and sewed it on the bookmark. Our bookmark project gave her 20 hours of work!

Teze Handcrafts (formerly known as Work of Her Hands) work with Azeri woman who live in Georgia. In the Azeri language, hands are frequently spoken of when talking about work. It is an honor to produce something good with your hands. Azeri women work hard inside their households but broken families and economic difficulties often leave them as the primary breadwinners. Teze Handcrafts collaborates with these ladies to enhance and teach skills they can use to work from home. There are currently 10 ladies in this group.
